For example, if your right handed (90% of American’s) than your out of luck because many stores are purposely set up so that you move counterclockwise, rendering your right hand subject to contact with a whole load of merchandise. 

Simply by changing the floors in department stores between linoleum and carpet, the retailer can lure the customer to sales racks or areas of interest. 

The fitting rooms and clearance racks are set up the farthest from the door even, so that the customer looks throughout the entire store.

However Forbes strongly reccomends making a specific shopping list or going directly for the back of the store, where everything is cheapest, to avoid the distraction of overpriced or frivolous buys, and to ask yourself if you really need the item your buying.  Apparently around 65% of purchases are unplanned, and those are our impulse purchases!

Unacknowledged tricks like this are how the retail giants are trying to earn a few bucks this year!

I was somewhat skeptical of the concept, but with the new creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, behind this project it was hard to expect anything less than perfection.

• Last week I featured the new Prada ads, but this week the Versace campaign has really caught my eye. I mean how could anyone ignore a campaign with two of the most recognizable faces in the industry (liked or not), Gisele  Bündchen and Kate Moss. Although there are accusations of them being photoshopped, it seems very commonplace now.
  
• Although not much to fixate on, I found this quote in a book and found it very interesting to a child of my generation, “In 1910 seventy percent of all clothing sold in America were made in New York City.” I found it fascinating, seeing as nowadays we are accustomed to mass production overseas.
• Coco Rocha’s another one of the prime names in modeling, and finding that she has a new blog (and red hair) was extremely exciting. Her blog Oh So Coco isn’t all done up, and personally I love it that way, it’s just right! Coco you’ve earned a new fan! As for the red hair, I love it on her, however red/orange hair can either be disastrous or gorgeous, and obviously Coco can pull it off. 
• So somehow, I ended up on this website filled with old cereal covers, and I absolutely loved them. Their hilarious, and kind of throw you in a time warp. Here is one of my favorites…
• Lately with all this dramatic makeup, I have only one person on my mind (well more than one, but this is the most interesting)… Endora! Endora, played by Agnes Moorehead, is probably one of my favorite characters on Bewitched (the show, not the horrid movie that nearly destroyed my love for Bewitched!) , an obsession I have had for quite a while. Her costumes and makeup are always simply divine.

In this day and age, the shoes coveted by most, concentrated on by the majority of designers are heels, however Stuart Weitzman thrusts some respect towards flats too. Weitzman says that (taken from Delta Sky Magazine)

“No, they’re not supposed to be sexy . . . but you don’t always have to be the sexiest you can be. I think if a woman tries to do that all the time, you start to not notice it anymore. Flat shoes are not sexy, but they’re cool, and it’s just as exciting to be cool as it is to be sexy. “.

I completely agree with Weitzman because, shoes often convey the attitude of an outfit, in my opinion, because based on the shoe, you can tell if the look is casual, or formal. So consequently, I feel that both flats and heels each have their own vices and advantages, along with their own stance in an outfit. 

Quite frankly at my age, I don’t find heels “age appropriate” in many situations. One day, I will swoon at the sight of Jonathan Kelsey or Jimmy Choo stilettos, however for now, they only bring fictional dreams.

P.S. Sorry there haven’t been any recent posts, I’ve been sick for the past few days, and I just never got around to it! I assure you I will not make a habit out of this, I rarely ever get sick.

I would also like to say that I have returned from New York, it wasn’t much of a retail journey, however I will be back in New York in February, for some major retail therapy.

• I am fawning over those few people who can make black on black work, rather than wearing the  traditional garb of those afraid of color being unenthusiastic pieces with little substance or thought. Exemplifying this would be model Alison Nix, in this video. 
• Prada’s new ad’s are delightful. They obtain elegance even through wrinkled clothes, now that’s lovely! Oh and I adore the shoes as well!

• This pink elephant statue found on Arak’s Blog, a source of much inspiration. Something about this elephant {statue} fascinates me possibly because it is in fact pink!
• Stefano Gabanna and Domencio Dolce’s incredibly witty Christmas card for their “closest friends” (how I envy those friends so!).                                                                 
• The concept of Longchamp creating clothes thrills me, however the content I’m not so sure about. Longchamp has designed iconic, and classic handbags for decades, however will the clothes uphold the tradition?
